As Lawrence Yun,\u00a0Chief Economist<\/em>\u00a0for the\u00a0National Association of Realtors<\/em>\u00a0(NAR),\u00a0notes<\/a>:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will be one of the best winter sales years ever.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The typical winter slowdown in the housing market is simply not on the radar. Here\u2019s why.<\/p>\n

While today\u2019s historically low mortgage rates are expected to remain low, they won\u2019t be\u00a0this low<\/strong>\u00a0for much longer. This could be the last chance for homebuyers to secure such low rates, and they\u2019re ready to take action. In a recent\u00a0article<\/a>,\u00a0Bankrate<\/em>\u00a0explained:<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re looking to buy a home\u2026expect mortgage rates to remain low into 2021<\/strong>. However, the possibility of rates falling to 2.5 percent or lower has faded as the U.S. economy has rebounded.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As long as we continue to see low interest rates, we\u2019ll see hopeful buyers on the hunt for their dream homes. Yun\u00a0confirmed<\/a>:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe demand for home buying remains super strong\u2026And we\u2019re still likely to end the year with\u00a0more homes sold overall in 2020 than in 2019<\/strong>\u2026With persistent low mortgage rates and some degree of a continuing jobs recovery, more contract signings are expected in the near future.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The challenge, however, is the\u00a0lack of homes available for sale<\/strong>. With that in mind, all eyes are on homeowners to see if they\u2019ll sell this winter or wait until spring. Danielle Hale,\u00a0Chief Economist<\/em>\u00a0for\u00a0realtor.com<\/em>,\u00a0says<\/a>\u00a0it\u2019s best for\u00a0sellers<\/a>\u00a0to capitalize on this moment sooner rather than later:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe currently see buyers sticking around in the housing market much later than we usually do this fall. If that trend continues, we will see more buyers in the market this winter, too. So,\u00a0this winter is likely to be a good time to sell<\/strong>.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

With buyers ready to stay active this winter, sellers who want to close a deal on the best possible terms\u00a0shouldn\u2019t wait<\/a>\u00a0until spring to put their homes on the market.<\/p>\n
