If you\u2019re following what\u2019s happening in the housing market right now<\/a>, you know that many people believe the winter months aren\u2019t a good time to sell a home. As realtor.com<\/em> Senior Economist<\/em> George Ratiu recently noted,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSellers tend to be more reluctant to list during the colder time of year when the market typically makes a seasonal slowdown.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

However, a recent report<\/a> by ShowingTime<\/em> reveals how this year is different. Buyer activity is way up compared to the same time last year. The report explains,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe nation\u2019s 12.6% growth in home showings compared to 2018 was the most significant jump in buyer traffic during the current four-month streak of year-over-year increases. The West Region saw the greatest growth in activity, with a 23.1% jump \u2013 the region\u2019s greatest in the history of the Showing Index.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The increase has spread across all four regions of the country, as the graph below shows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bottom Line<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Waiting for the \u201cspring buyers\u2019 market\u201d may be a mistake this year. It seems the purchasers are already out and looking to buy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
